Meyer Family Vineyards Method Traditionnelle Blanc de Blanc, Okanagan Valley
Readers rated this wine:
Fine, persistent, racy.
A 100% Chardonnay (Blanc de Blanc) comes from the Meyer Family Vineyard's McLean Creek Road Vineyard in Okanagan Falls. The vines are rooted in alluvial soils with glacial deposits (a mix of gravel and sandy loam) with a mostly southern aspect on asteep slope. The 2014 vintage base wine was fermented in stainless steel and aged for 2 years. The base wine went through a full natural malo-lactic fermentation and was then bottled under crown cap where it carried out its secondary fermentation in the summer of 2016. The bottles were then aged on lees for 28 months and were disgorged early spring 2019 with zero dosage. The bubbly is unfined and unfiltered.
A golden-yellow hue with a super fine bead, this blanc de blanc leads with modelling clay, oyster shell and bread dough aromas that glide into peach stone, Jonagold applesauce, star fruit, fennel fronds and acacia. Bone dry with racy acidity it is both creamy and austere; a very persistent finish trails more mineral and citrus flavours.
